I'm old enough to be in AARP now, but John Prine was well-know even before my time.
Over the years, I've heard his stuff, and it never did much for me. (Kind of surprising actually ... I like singer/songwriters and/or folk/rock generally, and in another lifetime I was a pretty mean finger-picker too).
Some of you know my wife Mary Jo. She's not a fan either, but she passed this one on to me this evening. Stephen Colbert and Prine recorded this in 2016 for the Late Show, but never aired it. The introduction is prophetic:
Anyway, he's been sick for over a week, and he passed away from SARS-CoV-2 on April 7th.
